Xod Play Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 June 2026

Xod Play is an offline-first companion for board game night — a finger picker, dice roller, turn-order shuffler, score sheets, an MTG life counter, secret-role dealing and a few extras. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app handles, where it lives, and why it stays under your control. The short version: everything is stored on your own device, there is no Xod Play account and no Xod Play server, and we never collect, transmit, sell, or share your information.

The short version

Xod Play is built privacy-first. There is no Xod Play account, no sign-up, no login, and no Xod Play-operated server or backend. We never receive, see, or transmit your data to our own systems.

Everything you create — players, scores, game history, stats, dice and sticker designs, and your settings — is stored locally on your device. The app works fully offline; an internet connection is never required to play.

We do not use analytics, ads, or third-party trackers, and the app contains no SDKs that send your data off-device. We do not sell or share your data with anyone. This was confirmed by a review of the app's source code.

What data Xod Play handles

The information you choose to enter stays on your device and can include: player names you add, scores and results you record, game history and the statistics derived from it, custom dice designs and bundles, stickers you create, and your app preferences (language, theme, app icon, graphics mode).

Statistics such as wins, win rate and streaks are calculated on your device from the games you save. These calculations happen locally and are not sent anywhere.

Xod Play does not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any account. It does not use location, contacts, or advertising identifiers.

Where your data is stored (on your device)

All of your Xod Play data is stored locally on your device using the device's on-device storage. It stays on the phone or tablet where you created it.

Because there is no Xod Play server, we cannot access your data, and we receive nothing when you use the app. Xod Play works offline and does not need an account.

If you delete the app, the locally stored data is removed by the operating system along with the app. Any copies kept by your device's own backup (for example iCloud or Google device backup) are governed by that platform, not by us.

Camera and photos (stickers)

Xod Play can turn a photo into a holographic sticker. To do this it asks permission to use your camera or to pick a photo from your library — only when you start creating a sticker, and only if you choose to.

The photo and any subject-lifting or card-scanning are processed entirely on your device. The image and the sticker you make are stored locally in the app. Nothing is uploaded to us or to any external service.

You can decline or revoke camera and photo permissions at any time in your device's settings; the rest of the app keeps working without them.

Nearby play over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Some features (such as dealing secret roles to friends) let nearby phones play together. One phone hosts and the others join over the same Wi-Fi network or directly over Bluetooth. This is a direct device-to-device connection — there is no Xod Play server in the middle.

During a session, only what the game needs is exchanged between the phones: a short room code, the player names people type in, and the role or game data for that round. This happens locally on your network or radio link and is not sent to us or stored by us.

To make this work, the app asks for local network and Bluetooth permission. These are used solely to find and connect to nearby players for a game, never for tracking or location. You can play everything else without granting them.

Motion and sensors

Xod Play reads your device's motion sensors so holographic stickers shimmer as you tilt the phone and so the labyrinth ball rolls when you tilt to steer it.

This motion data is used live, on your device, to drive the animation and gameplay. It is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.

What we do NOT do

We do not collect or transmit your data to Xod Play or to any third party. There is no backend that receives your data.

We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers, and the app contains no SDKs that send your data off-device.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, and we do not build profiles or use advertising identifiers.

Your control and how to delete your data

You stay in control of your data. You can rename or remove players, delete games from history, reset statistics, and remove stickers and custom designs from within the app at any time.

To remove everything at once, delete the app from your device; this removes the local data stored on that device. If your device keeps its own backup, manage or remove that copy through your device's backup settings.

Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on a server and nothing for us to retrieve.

Children's privacy

Xod Play is a family-friendly game companion that can be enjoyed by players of many ages. It has no account system and collects no personal data on any server.

Because we knowingly collect no data from anyone — including children — and store nothing off-device, there is no personal information for us to hold, profile, or share.

If a parent or guardian has concerns about a child's use of the app, all data lives only on that child's device and can be removed by deleting the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or to clarify our practices.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Significant changes may also be noted in the app or its store listing.

Continuing to use Xod Play after an update means the revised policy applies to your use of the app.
